Dr. Tara Consolino, CEO & Clinical Psychotherapist
Dr. Tara Consolino is a doctoral prepared psychotherapist and the CEO of Darkling Psychotherapeutic Services, PLLC, a group practice serving the Metro Detroit community and beyond. Dr. Consolino leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and relational healing through evidence-based and integrative care.
Her clinical work is deeply rooted in trauma-informed, relational, and attachment-based approaches, blending modalities such as CBT, REBT, DBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, IFS, Gottman, and Imago Therapy. As a Reiki II Practitioner, Dr. Consolino also incorporates energy-based and somatic awareness practices to support holistic regulation, grounding, and mind-body integration. Known for her direct yet compassionate style, she helps clients transform pain into purpose, fostering authenticity, emotional accountability, and sustainable connection.
In addition to offering clinical psychotherapy, Dr. Consolino developed her signature model of asynchronous care unique to Darkling Psychotherapeutic Services: Integrative Advising. Integrative Advising is a steady channel of support for those who process through written reflection and prefer an asynchronous approach and individualized depth beyond a psychotherapy environment. This is a service unique to Dr. Consolino where clinical mastery, decades of frontline clinical experience and somatic intuition are grounded in clinical ethics. It restructures your internal framework and not just your habits. Integrative Advising combines gravitas, transformation, precision, and sanctuary. This is not life coaching, this is more than psychotherapy, Integrative Advising is the convergence between the two where shadow meets science, intuition meets expertise and transformation replaces survival. Before founding Darkling, Dr. Consolino spent nearly two decades serving within the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she provided clinical care and leadership for Veterans navigating PTSD, moral injury, addiction, and suicidal ideation. This work continues to shape her systems-oriented and whole-person perspective, emphasizing both psychological insight and practical, embodied change.
As a clinical leader, Dr. Consolino cultivates a collaborative and innovative practice culture grounded in mentorship, clinical excellence, and authenticity. Her approach integrates science, creativity, and spirituality, empowering clients to heal through understanding, self-compassion, and evidence-informed practice.

Why Darkling?
Dr. Consolino has been known to say, “Sometimes it’s not about running towards a light, but embracing the dark to become your own light.” Incorporating memento mori philosophy into her psychotherapeutic approach emphasizes the transformative power of reflecting on the time we have left to inspire a more meaningful and intentional life. This philosophy was the foundation for establishing Darkling Psychotherapeutic Services, PLLC.

We collaborate with you to prioritize what truly matters, foster gratitude, and build resilience. By reminding our people of life’s impermanence, this encourages deeper self-awareness and alignment with our core values, guiding you to embrace the present moment, while letting go of those elements that no longer serve you. Our practice aims to be a catalyst for personal growth, a compass for direction, and during the cloudiest times, learning how to ignite your own flame to guide you through the dark.
